Welcome 2020

We welcome 2020 in a new year spirit of optimism and I think we all would like to see a greater degree of confidence wash over our business endeavours (and seep into our private lives too, for that matter).

Are there reasons to be cheerful?

From the UK viewpoint, it is difficult to see how the removal of at least one layer of uncertainty, in other words, the formal withdrawal from the EU by Britain can fail to draw a line under that aspect. The future trade relationship is another thing entirely, of course, but at least there is a Parliament that can make decisions.

Generally, with the bounce anticipated from that and now playing out, we can expect improved investment and activity in the UK, but internationally, there are still many negatives out there.

This is where belief and positivity come into play.

Psychologically, we had got into a fine mess and it is now time to work on self-fulfilling prophesies for our businesses and the economy; instead of gloom, let’s embrace boom. And make that happen.

Happy New Year!
