HR has Influencing Challenges not Technical Challenges!!!

I recently saw a HR conference that had a workshop topic titled ‘The End of Competencies’. It illustrates a classic failing for many professionals in the HR profession; they are always looking for a new idea or trend!. The reality is that as a profession we have lots of great initiatives and ideas but we are not so good at making them stick. Too often the approach is abandoned by managers soon after any launch. HR’s real challenge is one of influence and getting managers to really own and drive any HR process in the same way they would if it were a budget or sales target.

HR professionals should spend less time chasing the latest trend and instead concentrate on implementing the last one they proposed.
